SAVE CARDIFF PARKWAY TRAIN STATION & PROTECT 6,000 HIGH-QUALITY JOBS
Sign our petition below to call on the Welsh Government and Deputy Minister Lee Waters to approve £millions for investment in new transport links and to deliver 6,000+ local jobs. Help us get to 5,000 signatures and guarantee a debate in the Welsh Parliament.
Since 2017, the Labour Administration in Cardiff Council and your local councillors in Trowbridge & St Mellons have fought tirelessly to deliver £millions in investment and jobs for our local area and the city. This includes delivering a new £multi-million business district, served by a new state-of-the-art Cardiff Parkway railway station.
The new development will deliver around 6,000 high-quality jobs to the local area. The high-quality business spaces and better public transport links will help people to access other employment opportunities across the region.
The plans were given planning approval by Cardiff Council back in April 2022 with the hope that work would start almost immediately. However, despite the Welsh Government owning a 10% stake in the development, all of this progress and investment is now at risk, with the Welsh Government and Deputy Minister Lee Waters without merit putting a hold on the project.
If the plans are realised, it would be a game-changer for St Mellons & Trowbridge, providing a massive boost to the local economy. Journey times from St Mellons to the centre of Cardiff could be as short as just seven minutes.
We need residents across our city to make their voices loud and clear – we have to hit 5,000+ signatures for our petition to ensure the Welsh Government debates this issue in the Welsh Parliament.
We need the Welsh Government and Deputy Minister Lee Waters to know that St Mellons & Trowbridge, and Cardiff need this much-needed investment to support jobs for local people.
